Thermal Envelope Blower Door Testing Tips
- P-Traps – Fill all plumbing P-traps (sinks, floor drains, tubs/showers) with water to block airflow from the sewer system.
- All interior doors to be left open
- All exhaust fans turned off (motion activated fans need to be disabled/breaker turned off).
- Ensure all windows and exterior doors are fully closed, latched, and locked during testing.
- Thresholds and Weather Stripping installed on exterior doors.
- Vented Attics – Please ensure access hatches are insulated and have weatherstripping gaskets.
- HVAC Systems turned off
